It can be quite a daunting prospect when looking for the right massage therapist, given the personal nature of the job involved.
Clearly, for any potential client, feeling absolutely at ease and comfortable with both the therapist and the surroundings is of paramount importance.
As a long-standing client of John Chin’s, I have four compelling reasons why I chose him, and why I believe you should too…
Qualifications
Any reputable massage therapist will have qualifications related to their work, and when making an initial exploratory call, clients should ask up front as to which qualifications the therapist holds.
John Chin’s qualifications can be seen in another area of this website, but they are set out here for ease;
London School of Sports Massage – Diploma
The London College of Massage – Diploma
Academy of Oriental Medicine – Diploma in Tao-Yin (Cranial Balancing, Stress Management, Needling & Balancing, Musculoskeletal Repatterning)
Academy of Oriental Medicine – Diploma in Tui-Na (Amma Chinese Therapeutic Massage, Muscle Testing, Internal Organ balance, Joint Mobilisation)
Academy of Oriental Medicine – Diploma in Acupuncture and Moxibustion
Knowledge
When choosing a massage therapist, it sounds obvious but they must have a comprehensive understanding of anatomy, physiology and know the location of soft tissues in your body, including tendons, ligaments, and muscles, in order to be able to perform massage techniques properly and effectively.
If you were to visit John Chin at his massage room inside Gym Fit, Clacton-on-Sea, you would see that he has two charts on his wall; one which shows all the bones in the human skeleton and another that details every muscle in the body.
John’s knowledge of both, and how each muscle group and bone works, is encyclopaedic, as is his knowledge of the nervous and circulatory systems.
Client testimonies and reviews
John’s reviews speak for themselves.
If you’ve come straight to this blog post before looking over the rest of the website, take some time to read through some of the outstanding five-star Google reviews that over 200 satisfied clients have left.
For a self-employed person in any field, recommendations and word of mouth are key selling points.
To have so many clients who have both taken the time to leave a review and return to John time after time is a testament to his excellence.
A very good listener
In a setting where clients can and do feel vulnerable, it’s vital that their massage therapist quickly puts them at their ease and gains their trust.
John Chin is friendly, approachable and will listen intently to the client before suggesting the type of massage to be undertaken and why it is the most appropriate.
Throughout the massage, John will consistently check on the client’s wellbeing, whilst explaining what to expect during and after the massage.
Happy to answer any questions; nothing is too much trouble for him, and being able to have such a two-way dialogue is priceless, as not all massage therapists work in this manner.
